'Sometimes I have so much rage it scares me...'

Grace Adams is one bad day away from saving her life...

One hot summer day, stuck in traffic on her way to pick up the cake for her daughter's sixteenth birthday party, Grace Adams snaps.

She doesn't scream or break something or cry or curl into a ball. She simply abandons her car in traffic and walks away.

But not from her life—towards it. To the daughter who won't live with her anymore and has banned her from the party. To the husband divorcing her. Towards the terrible thing that has blown their family apart...

Today she'll show her daughter that no matter how far we fall we can always get back up again. Because Grace Adams was amazing. Her husband and daughter once thought so. They and the world might have forgotten. But Grace is about to remind them...

Amazing Grace Adams tells the story of a life, a marriage, a family, set against a single north-London day. A rollercoaster ride of redemption and discovery, it's a powerful celebration of womanhood.

Menolit

I’ve known about this book for a long time thanks to a woman in one of my book groups. So my expectations were high. Claire is a good narrator especially to those of who remember her as the mother in ‘outnumbered’. It starts off in quite a light way but gets deep and dark. I think this should be nominated for the women’s prize. It ticks the style and subject box but not the diversity one. I have reserved the book from the library and think it will improve on reading as the time jumps got confusing at times. There is a clever twist about 2/3 through I didn’t anticipate

Laugh out loud farcical funny, perfect narrator

Absolute perfect choice of narrator for this - I was envisaging Clare Skinner throughout in this character. Wonderful farcical comedy of errors, then catching you off guard with heart breaking poignancy. I thought this would be a relatively light easy listen, and while it was easy to listen to, I was totally invested in the stories, rooting for Grace to make it to her destination. Would recommend to anyone.

A challenging listen but great writing and narration

It was a sad story for most of it but it builds the nuance bit by bit expertly so that you can really see how one thing after another stacks on top of each other to lead to what happens. I thought the inner world of characters was very well observed. And so many things from being a parent to a baby and toddler I recognised.

Definitely a tough listen in places but I think there is hope in there too.

It was ok

I thought this book started off well, but it kept going back-and-forth and back-and-forth, and I got confused at times. I just really wanted to know what happened to her daughter and almost wanted to forward the book till I got to that point. Plus I found Grace quite annoying at times. However, it was performed and read very well in days.

Amazing!

I loved this book so much. It definitely needs to be a film and Claire Skinner would be amazing in the lead role. I was really invested in all the characters and it was funny, sad and everything in between. Definitely recommend.

Amazing read

Relatively new to audible. I loved this. Claire skinner was perfect Addressed so many issues. A dark turn two thirds through that you knew was brewing. But not the extent. Was recommended through a guardian review which was spot on
