Good for Halloween

This is a short set of stories which actually come across as one whole story separated by the passage of time in the tale. They blend really well into each other. Having read the ARKANE series of books and the London books I thought I knew what kind of story to expect. I was wrong. This is a lot more horror style of writing than the other books I've read. It's certainly not for folk who are freaked out by gore and the darker type of storylines. I am fine with that, but it just took me a little by surprise as it wasn't quite what I'd expected. Not one to listen to without headphones if you have small children around as the descriptions ( especially in the first short story) may scare them and give them nightmares if they have vivid imaginations.
I enjoyed it and found the narration ( Also done by J.F. Penn) easy to listen to, if a bit posh and flat in places. A good way to pass the time whilst doing my housework. It would be good one to listen to at Halloween with thoughts down low and a storm rating outside, lol. There's quite an in-depth explanation of how it all fit into Dante's Inferno and the seven circles of Hell which I found really interesting.
I would happily listen to more books written and narrated by Ms. Penn.
I received a complimentary copy and this is my honest opinion.
