About this listen

A witch, a prophecy, a dark adventure.
Kylin, having recently discovered secrets hidden within the world way before her lifetime, finds herself right in the middle of the war between Elves, Vampires, and Mortals. While navigating her newly developed relationship, she is also preparing herself for whatever may come. So much is in the balance; her brother was taken by the enemy, a mysterious witch has the location of a long-lost family member, and the world is on the brink of war for Kylin's own capture.
This story takes her on new heart-breaking and riskier adventures with dragons and werewolves. Her relationship is put through unforeseen trials while her own will and determination are tested. As a new adult, she is learning her true desires as she also discovers dark truths about the world her eyes were closed to for so long.

Simply phenomenal!

I'm so invested in Kyrins story I can't even explain how much of a choke hold these characters have me in! I can't wait to find out what happens next for these characters!

Considering this is narrated by a single person she really brings this story to life, and that's not just a shout out to her amazing talent, but also the way SP Woods writing style sucks you in, you need a truly incredible story to pull off single narration and this is an outstanding example of that!

Difficult Choices

The “A Mortal Queen” series is exciting and different, and full of mystery, intrigue, action, adventure and romance all woven into an incredible series. This second book picks up from where the first one ended on a cliffhanger. I have to say I was under the impression that this was a two-book series, but unfortunately, it's not - and this book too finishes on a cliffhanger.

That said the characters are wonderfully well drawn and do evolve and grow as the story progresses. Kylin the main character in the story goes from being a human with a low sense of self-worth to being a strong and determined woman. A woman willing to fight for what she knows is right and for the people and family she loves. The Elven King believes that she is the mortal referred to in an ancient prophecy and so wants her to be his Queen. Malik, The Vampire King and Kylin were drawn to each other at first sight and Malik wants her as his Queen and then there is Raynel, the Werewolf King who also loves and wants her. She loves both The Vampire and The Werewolf and you wonder who she will choose or if she will be given a choice about her fate. Will the prophecy be fulfilled?

This is a story of good vs evil that draws you into Kylin's world as she questions what is the truth as opposed to what she and the majority have been made to believe and takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride full of unexpected plot twists full of danger and lots of angst. The story is told in the first person by Kylin and although it works well there were times during the story when I wanted to know what others, particularly Malik, were thinking too.

I love the many many magical creatures that make up this world mortals, elves, vampires, werewolves, a vampire/werewolf hybrid and an ancient witch. The author's descriptive writing style made everything seem so real but not realising that this book ended on a cliffhanger it also kept me listening far too late into the night desperate to know the outcome of Kaylin's story. I don't know what the author has planned for Kylin but I hope I don't have to wait too long to find out.

Juniper London's narration is excellent she does a wonderful job bringing the characters to life.
