About this listen

Aisling Smith is about to try out for a new job - a job writing for a paper she's never heard of. But seeing as she's currently writing classified ads and obituaries, it would be foolish not to give it a shot.

Riddler's Edge might be a small town, but it's definitely not boring. Her train hasn't even pulled into the station, and already a woman has been murdered. According to the grumpy but gorgeous Detective Quinn, the passenger's death wasn't a murder at all. He insists that Bathsheba Brookes died of a nut allergy.

Aisling doesn't believe it for a minute. She intends to discover the real story - a difficult challenge, considering the town's inhabitants seem to be keeping some very big secrets. Even if she gets to the bottom of Bathsheba's death, Aisling might not get to be the Daily Riddler's newest reporter. There's one final, mysterious test that she must pass - a test carried out by the newspaper's owner. And Aisling suspects he might be looking for more than just a journalist....

Interesting characters in charming setting

Loved the Irish locale and accents. Refreshing. Interesting background story developing. Author Albright writes well and her heroine is feisty, unusual but believable (probably because she’s Irish!)

Fun, Froth and Fantasy

A delightful book, quite frothy without being too sweet. The story keeps moving at a good pace, with laugh out loud wit sprinkled into the tale. Yes, the ending was predictable but it didn't detract from the journey. I really like the author's style.
The narration was a personal delight, Sarah-Jane Scott has just the right voice for this and she differentiated between the characters very smoothly. With Irish roots, it was a joy to listen to a whole story told by an Irish woman. I'll be looking out for more of her work.

A bit of fun

Curious about the title, I downloaded this as a short 'read' after finishing something very long. It was a most enjoyable listen and the narrator was excellent.

Light fun entertaining listen

The narrator is very good.
Light fun entertaining listen. I enjoyed the world building. Bit different to other witchy books I’ve read/ listened to. Also more fantasy oriented I felt. This isn’t my usual genre.

real shame

The voiceover woman is incredible. but the shallow main character saying things about attraction like "he was tall but not tall enough" is so ugly and gives the author away a bit, I couldn't get past that sort of thing. imagine that about a different physical feature. "She was thin but not thin enough". eurgh.
