Summary
Afghanistan 2021. The Taliban takeover.
Surrounded and outnumbered by their Taliban attackers, a small group of Afghan special forces fights their way out of their base and races toward Kabul and the last of the flights leaving the country.
A team of seasoned SAS soldiers is deployed to Kabul to assist in extracting intelligence assets for the MI6 Station there. But as the Taliban tighten their deadly noose around the city, the simple locate and recovery task soon becomes a lot more complicated.
And when a legendary Taliban commander arrives in Kabul and learns that there are special forces operating in his city, he knows there is only one thing to do: Hunt them down, and kill them.
With hundreds of Taliban searching the city for them, the SAS team’s mission becomes one of survival and staying a step ahead of their hunters. And with the planned evacuation of Kabul descending into chaos, the team knows that if they don’t make it back to the airport fast, they won’t make it out at all.
Based around true events, A Day Ahead of the Devil is the latest action-packed thriller from the bestselling author of Asset Seven.

I really enjoyed the narration of Kerry Hutchinson
While the politicians have abandoned Afghanistan to the Taliban, the SAS sends a team to rescue the remainder of an Afghan Special Forces team hunted by the Taliban. The great majority of Afghans will be doomed to the Taliban's barbaric rule.
This book is full of action. adventure and the suspense.

Superb
I've never really been into books about soldiers and battles and I started this one on the recommendation of a friend. I have not been disappointed. The book is superbly written and I know its a clichè but I couldn't put it down. Every chapter leaves the listener wanting more. The narration was fantastic and made the story easy to listen to. All in all a fantastic experience that I highly recommend.

Brilliant.
A brilliant story well written. The withdrawal from Afghanistan is in full swing when an SAS company is sent in to assist. They are working hard but beurocrats get in the way thinking they should get special treatment. The main girl character is great and all in all the whole book is just superb. Kerry Hutchinson narration is spot on and brings the whold sordid story to life.
I was kindly given a copy of the book and leave this honest review.

A new go to Author! Absolutely fantastic!!!
Chapeau…A Day Ahead Of The Devil!!! Just finished the audiobook and absolutely fantastic!!! Love how it encapsulates the pandemonium, humanitarian crisis caused by the withdrawal of Afghanistan and the atrocities that took place during it!
The Narrator - Kerry Hutchinson is cast perfectly for this audiobook (despite his Welsh accent sounding my Geordie 😉) and he carries out a brilliant job on enhancing the gripping, exhilarating, suspense, heartfelt and attention to detail content that’s written by James E Mack and really brings all of the main characters to life!!!
Absolutely love this novel/audiobook and highly recommend!!!
Hoping and praying that Asset Seven will be put into production and turned into an audiobook as well?!? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
From now a new huge fan
