About this listen

A Medical Thriller.

What happens when a top surgeon begins to crack under the strain of his personal life and patients start to die? A sudden spike in patient deaths drives an impassioned ICU nurse to launch a clandestine investigation, targeting a powerful cardiac surgeon whose corrupt connections could destroy her career.

Allison Jamison, an experienced intensive care nurse, becomes suspicious when a recent wave of major surgical complications results in unnecessary patient deaths. She enlists the professional expertise of her friend, Detective Mark Derning, whose interests include more than an investigative role. When her probe targets Dr. Gary Tamarino, the powerful, narcissistic chief of cardiothoracic surgery at San Francisco Bay Hospital, she encounters a staggering level of deceit and revenge while delving deep into his far-reaching web of corruption.

Abuse of power, manipulation, callousness, and desperation drive the dark side of a man who also saves lives on a daily basis. Will he destroy her career before she can do anything to stop him?

Loved it

Margie Miklas is a talented writer. I honestly felt intrigued from the beginning! The plot is a catchy, yet terrifying one. Everyone wants to feel safe in the hands of their medical team, but what happens when you can't trust your own Doctor? Dr. Gary is the typical arrogant narcissist that you love to hate, and Allison is a nurse who grows suspicious of Dr. Gary because his patients are dying under his care.....don't want to spoil the rest, you must listen for yourself!

Overall a great book that could easily be a drama/thriller movie. Would recommend to all

Great book

Good storyline, kept me hanging on wondering what was going to happen next. well thought out and well written by the author. Very well read by the narrator. I spent several lovely hours of enjoying some 'me time'. I would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Thriller

Blair Seibert, was perfect for this thriller.

Was hooked from the start. Such twists and turns. The plot is centred around Allison a intensive care nurse and her suspicion of a powerful surgeon.
Allison asks her detective friend Mark for help. The two of them are attractive to each other. Great sub plot.

Such a gripping book

Hi Margie,
A great book that I listened to in two days, it just kept me gripped. Thrillers aren’t usually my genre of choice, but I was really intrigued by the summary. The writing really is great, and I love the attention to detail. Especially in a genre like the medical thriller field - it really made me think that corruption like this could easily happen in the places you’re supposed to feel looked after and safe in. The narration also did a great job of bringing the characters to life - I did almost start to feel sorry for the antagonist at one point!
