Summary
In the common adoption process that we are familiar with, when a child is adopted into a new family they take on not only the new family’s name, but also the family rights.
Irrelevant of the child’s previous upbringing or financial status, that child now has access to the same rights with others in the same house. If the children are taken to school in a limousine but in that child’s previous home they walked miles to school; this child now has the right to be driven in a nice limousine to his new school.
I am sure many of us understand this. However, that child may choose to walk to school if he/she wanted. But it will feel sad for that parents since the child will not be enjoying what the parent have on offer.
I sometimes think; that is the way God feels about us Born-again Believers. Christ has given us the right to be called children of God; yet many times we still live out of the old nature.
It is not uncommon to have believers commit the same sin; speak the same way, have the same habits the nonbeliever has. This ought not to be, so the problem simply stated is that we do not yet come to an understanding of our new position in Christ.
My daughter went to a meeting where her friend was ministering to small group of people and at that meeting her friends spoke about “your new position” in Christ Jesus. One of the statements he made was that if you knew who you were in Christ, you will automatically stop sinning. The reason why many believers continue in sin, for example, is because they have not come to a full understanding of who they are in Christ and the power they have within them.
I would really like us to meditate on these 21 Scriptures included in this audiobook; pray about them, and also begin to put them into practice. I am sure they will bring you into a better understanding of all you are in Christ Jesus.
