About this listen
Thanks to an elderly spinster sleuth and her ingenious cat, Christopher Holmes has enjoyed a celebrated career as a bestselling mystery writer. Until now. Sales are down and his new editor is allergic to geriatric gumshoes. On the advice of his agent, he reinvents his fortyish, frumpy, recently dumped self into the sleek, sexy image of a literary lion, and heads for a Northern California writers conference to try and resurrect his career. A career nearly as dead as the body he stumbles over in the woods. In a weirdly déjà vu replay of one of his own novels, he finds himself stranded in an isolated lodge full of frightened women?and not a lawman in sight. Except for J.X. Moriarity, former cop and bestselling novelist. The man with whom he shared a one-night stand - okay, maybe three - long ago. The man who wants to arrest him for murder. A ruthless, stalking killer, or a hot, handsome ex-lover. Which poses the greater danger? It's elementary, my dear Holmes!

My xxth listen thru
I've lost count of the number of times I've listened to this book. It's one of my favourite audiobooks. The writing is fresh and funny, the mystery is excellent, and the relationship gives me butterflies, and does it without an excess of flowery words. Lanyon is an excellent writer. Kit and JX are a fantastic couple, with some of my favourite relationship tropes--enemies to lovers and second chances.
It's brilliantly narrated by Kevin R Free, who gets Kit's personality down to a T.

Cute & Funny
I was a bit wary initially thinking it could be a bit dodgy on content, but I was wrong! The book is cute, funny and the story line is great. I will download the other 2 books in the series for sure

My favourite go to audiobook
This is my go to comfort listen audiobook. I have listened to it about 10 times or more already. The narrator makes the story even better. Just love it.

Very Entertaining
What made the experience of listening to Somebody Killed His Editor the most enjoyable?
Very funny and enjoyable. Great fun. You really do come to the like the wit and humour of the lead character despite his multiple faults as a human being. The ending was a little too hasty and tidied up a bit too easily but overall a great listen! Few sexy scenes but that's not what this book is about.

Enjoyable mystery with engaging narration
This is my first audible and I chose a book I had already read several times. I really enjoyed the narration and the pace. The narrator captured Christopher perfectly and did well with other characters too. Would recommend

Spectacular! Wonderful Performance by K. Free
Oh my god, it was so funny! I've never laughed so hard over a Josh Lanyon book - Christopher was so droll and the way he made aside comments was priceless. Great cast of characters, the plot was intricate and well developed and progressed nicely through the book. A few well placed (and a little bit steamy) love scenes. I can't wait to see what Christopher and J.X. do next - I downloaded the second in the series before I had even finished the first. Terrific read.

Predictable
This is a very unoriginal story with a dull main character. I don't understand the great reviews it gets. The narration was ok, but could not elevate the story from boring to entertaining.
