Summary
Justice Volkov is the youngest Alpha Zenith to ever lead the wolf shifters. Following in his father's large paw prints was a responsibility he met head on. Now at age 33, he is alpha of the alphas. As a direct descendant of the original Siberian pack, his wolf is bigger and stronger than Justice himself is sometimes able to control. His wolf howled long and hard, but Justice kept it inside. It felt like a bass drum beating against his rib cage. The harsh breaths, angry snarls, and the determined pacing inside him were overtaking him. Justice takes his role of leadership and his legacy very seriously. He has little time for romance, not to mention a true mate. His packs are his priority. With a human government trying to regulate them, an uprising of rogue shifters, and a violent team of scientists trying to experiment on them, Justice has his hands way too full.
Chadwick "Wick" Bentley is not enthusiastic when the captain of his escort tells him he has to leave his comfortable London home and go back to the States. As the Vampire King, he has no choice but to get his species back in line before they cause anymore chaos. At over 100 years old, Wick is no one to trifle with, but his smooth, charismatic manner makes him quite unique, despite the negative reputation vampires have. Wick has had nothing but time up to this point. He doesn't feel the need to make issues pressing. Nothing is urgent in his life. Until he meets Justice. His beloved.
"Natural enemies can't be mates." Or so Justice thought. He knows his skepticism and rejection is hurting his mate, so while he fights their connection, Wick gets help from a source very close to Justice to help him win his beloved's heart. Wick is a force all on his own, but when he's blessed with a special gift from the Mother herself, not even Justice's powerful wolf can prevent the prophesy from being fulfilled.

Worth the wait!
I have waited an age to listen to an A.E Via book on audio and it didn’t disappoint.
I love the idea of a Shifter/Vampire true mating, it brings together my two favourite PNR’s together in one storyline, and Wick and Justice are two strong leaders of their species. Wick the English King of the Vampires and Justice the American Zenith Alpha are expertly narrated by Nathaniel Black a new narrator to me. His upper class English accent was excellent.
I hope that there will be more of this series and perhaps A.E. Via will consider placing her series ‘Nothing Special’ and ‘Promises’ on audiobook too

as good as the ebook
The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Simple story done well
Character based story rather than loads of action. Simple plot line. Great introduction to a new series and set of characters. Loved the narrator. Would recommend!

I loved the e book and this production just made it that much better.
The possibilities presented for this series is very promising. I can’t wait for more shifters to find their Vampire mates

Deep dive into a fascinating world
Story: A.E. Via created an interesting world where vampires and shifters live right along humans. The lore is a fairly traditional one, but the overall worl building is very well done and does not leave much room for questions.
The MCs are the leaders of both races and while there were things about both of them that were slighlty irritating for me, we get a solid fated mates type of story full of very intense emotions and scorching hot scenes.
Overall, I did not get as pulled in as with other books from this author, but I am intrigued enough to continue with the series and see what comes next.
Narration: Very good performance and very distinct voices, including well done accents.

Bad 80s porn...
This book is like the bad 80s porn books you’d find hidden in the bottom of your Mum’s sock drawer ..except with man on man action.. and werewolves and vampires. But hey, if you’re into someone being “ravished” and it being narrated by someone who would be better suited to doing a dramatic cinematic advert, then go for it. Reallllllly not for me. The story was so very uninspired and fell very flat.

cringing
the story would be good if it didnt include mother nature, and a dead mother who can communicate from beyond the grave to be all mysterious and all knowing. very cringeworthy and cliche

Really cheesy and disappointing
This is not of the same standard as other AE Via books. The character development is poor and the dialogue is clunky. It feels like this was thrown together quickly. Really disappointed.

Know your audience
With all due respect to the author, the most important rule for any erotica writer is to know their audience. This means, sentences like "he took care of himself" which are inserted in every single one of her stories are kind of cringe when most of us who listen the genre are not people who she would probably consider people who took care of themselves. That term is offensive these days anyway and fatphobic. Taking care of yourself can mean so many things and being fit certainly does NOT mean you automatically are living a healthy life. In fact quite often the opposite. There are other non-offensive ways to describe someone is desirable. Altho I also do not understand the obsession with long hair on a men either. It'd be okay if it was a few characters here and there, but it's almost always the main character. As a gay man who finds long hair a huge turn off, it's an issue; especially when the author spends a good few pages going on about the hair instead of just mentioning it once or twice. It's like any turn off, you can look past it and decide to ignore and imagine the character has short hair instead (or whatever feature turns you off), but when it's constantly described to you over and over and over it's a problem.
The story is overall good, vampire fantasy really needs to make a comeback... Narrator does an amazing job and really captures my attention! The follow up books have a different narrator which kind of ruins the experience since this one is so good. Once again, I have to point out (which is absurd as it should be already obvious); narration is the most important part of an audiobook. The follow up books have a narrator who has a very monotone voice and keeping focused to what he is saying is increasingly difficult. This, the first book doesn't have that issue.
