Summary
"Lust. It drives people to do things they normally wouldn't."
A whisper is a secret that keeps you safe in the dark. It may hold truth, but it may bring about pain. When Eli said goodbye to love, he never counted on Gia.
The darkened soul he'd kept hidden for far too long was tainted. And she was too beautiful, too innocent. But he didn't bank on the feisty beauty taming the beast he held inside.
Living with guilt and anger, he promises to never love again. But fate has other plans.
Will Eli and Gia find a light in the dark?
Contains mature themes.

Great listen
you've got to feel for this poor young woman Gia, literally everyone in her life that was meant to cherish, protect and care for her has abused and walked away from her, even Elijah walked away at one point in her life.
this series is dark and covers difficult topics so check the content first. the series follows the world of BDSM, while I'm not personally into pain along side my pleasure, it hasn't stopped me enjoying the books, you just have to have an open mind. I enjoyed the book and both of the narrator's performances were great, changing pitch and tone with their voices to create the different characters and making sure every ounce of feeling and emotion on the page was felt by the listener. a very enjoyable listen.

Not quite hitting the spot
The monologues are frequent, lengthy and talk about deep emotions but somehow don't really carry any. The sex scenes are equally lengthy, somewhat clinical and have the same lack of engagement in any emotion. There's a story under there that's quite sweet in places but the execution doesn't really draw you in enough to care.
