Summary
Rivers of red changed my life in inexplicable ways.
Leaving behind my happy, carefree London existence, I found myself across the pond at the exclusive Highgate Preparatory Academy—an institution catering to the privileged offspring of the affluent and influential in the United States—for my senior year.
There, fate led me to the arms of the Black Knights of Highgate Prep.
Loki, Jax, Kai, and Ash—four mesmerizing, damaged, and captivating young men. Each possesses a wealth as vast as Midas, yet their scars run deep, seemingly irreparable.
Our connection is immediate and profound, akin to a fairytale, but my knights bear tarnished armor, embodying fallen angels with a touch of demonic souls.
But fate, relentless and unforgiving, orchestrated a night that shattered my world once more, forcing me to question the loyalty of my dark knights as their haunting secrets came to light.
Yet appearances can be deceiving, and even knights must submit to tyrant kings. It turns out that the grass is not always greener on the other side—it too is stained with crimson. And none of us can claim innocence.
Captured is the first book in a scorching dark contemporary romance, where our bold leading lady won't have to choose. Boundaries will be crossed, both figuratively and literally.
If you crave emotionally scarred, impossibly attractive young men who thrive in the shadows, a fiercely outspoken young woman unafraid to wield colorful language, and steamy encounters that will leave you breathless—appearing in nearly every chapter—then Captured is a novel you won't want to miss.

Lily and her Black Knights
This was one of the first why chooses I ever picked up and jumped at the chance to listen to the audiobook. I did forget the characters in this are only 17/18 when I was listening but I really loved the narrators and quite happily aged everyone up in my head; Evelyn Rose was fantastic as Lily and I warmed more to her character this time round with all of her creative cursing as some phrases just need to be said out loud to be appreciated! Lucas Webley was also great in this duet narration flipping between the multiple male characters and you were never in doubt who was who.
This book is all about setting up the foundation of Lily's found family who each have their own trauma to work through as plotwise, there isn't very much happening; it is insta-lust/love and very heavy on the spice frequency. I liked how Lily completely owned her sexuality in that respect but I was more interested in the scenes which developed the camaraderie and dynamic in the group itself as well as the Black Knights plotline and wanted more of that so it felt a little unbalanced for me as a whole. As this is part of a series though its not a huge deal at this point as I know there will be more to come in book two. There are some of the character's backstories revealed but there are still plenty of questions and a very sneaky cliff hanger at the end which comes out of nowhere!
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely and I have added all the authors works to my TBR

Hot!! 🔥❤️🔥
Reading this felt like coming home. It was so incredibly English I couldn't help but fall in love with it. The atmosphere was cozy, eccentric, mysterious with a little dark academia. I loved our fmc Lily and how she had a good balance of humour and confidence, sophistication and a rebellious nature. What she goes through within this book and the aftermath showed me how strong she truly was (please check tw's) and the way her love interests reacted made me respect them so much. How protective they were of her and how devoted and in love they actually was.
This book is SUPER spicy, almost in every chapter there is spice, aswell as insta love for some guys and a slowburn with others - however there was insta lust with all of them and it only made the story even hotter. The academy felt very downtown abbey, and it's even described as that in the book.
I couldn't agree more! There was a good blend of modern and classic and it all seemed to fit perfectly.
Even if there is a lot of spice, (copious amounts of it!) I still felt there was a good foundational storyline underneath. This book had lots and lots of layers and I loved that. The mystery behind Lily our fmc's past was so interesting and intriguing, she herself being a mystery added to the overall suspense.
Bring on book two! I can't wait to find out more.

Great start to the series
I've said it before, and I'll say it again Rosa Lee knows how to write a why choose romance 🙌
I really liked Lily and I love all of her very british sayings!! Sometimes, people write a British character but make them have American slang, and it makes them so unbelievable!
The boys 🥵 each one so different, each one oh so broken. I like the way that Lily was able to develop relationships with them all separately as well as as a group, and I can't wait tonsee what it goes in the next book.
Can we just talk about the ending.... I knew she was going to find something but that wasn't what I expected!!
Im jum straight into book 2 and continuing on the rollercoaster ride.
The narrators were perfect at bringing Lily and the boys to life and I loved how I could differentiate between the boys eve though it was the same narrator 🙌 great performance.

Good if you like rolling your eyes
Look, I enjoy a well written reverse harem, but this is not that. I get that this is a fantasy, but still, the writing could be a lot better.
The dialogues are unnatural and feels forced, the plot is non-existent, the characters are unbelievable, there's a lot of unnecessary mention of brands (what is this, American Psycho?), and for some reason the author feels the need to insert her own taste in music, which is a pet peeve of mine.
I don't believe she's ever met an 18 year old boy, because these boys are not at all believable, and their stories make absolutely no sense. They're written as 35 year old men. The girl is such a pick-me, super cringey.
Narrators were fine, the woman's voice is believable as an 18 year old, but the man's voice sounds nothing like young boys who have just gone through puberty.
All in all, this is bad. Will get a refund for this book and forgot I ever listened to it.
